NLP- Neuro-Linguistic Programming
NLP refers to neuro linguistic programming began as a model of how we communicate with ourselves and others. This was originally developed by Richard Bandler, John Grinder and others. The model proposes how we process the information that comes into us from outside.
Typically what happens is that there is an external event and we run the event through our internal processing. We make an internal representation of the event. The event combined with our physiology helps us create a state. We have various input channels and everyone has a preferred input channel to receive the input- some are visual while some are auditory and some kinesthetic.
Becoming aware of the internal representation and the child’s internal representation helps in better understanding and gives us an idea about how thoughts are categorized by the kids with special needs.
NLP also has a lot of techniques which can be used to work on language and social skills of kids with special needs including Autism.
We, at, Khushi Pediatric Therapy Centre use NLP to understand the parents and kids better and use it as a tool along with many others .
